Walking

I've said this before, but I feel so lucky to live where I do.  Right on my doorstep is this!  Miles and miles of beautiful landscape to explore and behold.  Since moving here, me and Floyd have really gotten into taking long walks in the countryside.  Breathing in the fresh air, feeling the cool wind against our faces and really appreciating what Mother nature has given us.  As I keep saying - lucky.

It was Floyd's birthday a couple of weeks ago, so to celebrate he gathered a few of our good friends and suggested a long walk in the Peaks followed by some real ale and some grub; and that's exactly what we did (grub and ale not pictured).  We started our journey in one of Sheffield's gems - 'The Tap'.  A place I want to go back and take a million more pictures of because it has so much character.

It was a great way to celebrate his special day and I'm sure all would agree it was a big success (rain and wind included).  I can't wait until next time.

Sunday Walking

Today was one of those gloriously sunny winter days.  The promise of Spring!  So we took little Betty out for a walk around our local park whilst both me and Floyd snapped a few photos for good measure.  I wore lots of layers, but really I didn't need to wear quite so many clothes - it was rather warm!  If you like the hat I'm wearing, I'll be sharing how I made it later this week so stay tuned for the crochet pattern.

I've been poorly this week and I think I may have passed it on to Floyd now as well, so we're having a chilled evening.  I'm burning some candles with essential oils, drinking plenty of tea and making sure the flat is clean and cosy - it's important to feel comfortable on the road to recovery.

A Sunday Walk

Just a few snaps from our walk around Sheffield Botanical Gardens the other Sunday.  It was a beautiful Autumn day.  I feel so lucky to have this amazing landscape right on my doorstep.

I hope your Monday has been fine.

Filey

Me, Floyd and Betty had such a fun holiday in Filey.  We've been there a few times now as Floyd's mum has a place out there, so we feel pretty lucky that we get to enjoy it time after time (and it holds a very special place in our hearts now!).  We did plenty of eating, drinking and relaxing which is exactly what I was hoping to achieve in our week off.

Every time we go we have our little traditions.  We had fish and chips nearly every day, went sea-fishing one day and caught a load of mackerel (yum), we then had to learn how to gut them (gross), we went charity-shop shopping, went to the arcade and won a monkey keyring on the 2p machines (I love those things), I treated myself to a double-scoop ice-cream, and we took Betty on lots of long walk on the cliffs and on the beach.

I look forward to the next time we visit.  I love you Filey!

A walk in the park

One of the best things about having a dog is all the time you get to spend outside in the fresh air with your thoughts and cute company.  One of the best things about living where I do is the close proximity to all the beautiful parks in my area.  The Botanical Gardens is a favourite spot of both mine and Betty's, and as you can see it looks pretty special in Autumn.

I feel pretty lucky to live in a City that is both green and urban (did you know Sheffield is Europe's greenest city?).  It really is the best of both worlds.  I try to make the best of the weekends, when I have some daylight, and take Betty on a long walk around some of Sheffield's green spots.  The nights (and mornings) are too dark at the moment, so the only real good walks are at the weekend... roll on Spring.
