Winter weather

I've been meaning to blog another outfit post, but the cold weather has been making me want to either stay inside in my 'numfs' (comfy clothes) or wear lots of sensible and not necessarily stylish or coordinated layers.  The freezing temperatures are getting in the way of all our Spring plans, and this Easter weekend is looking more like pub lunches sat beside log fires than picnics in the park with cream cakes and Elderflower fizz *sigh*.

Spring where are you?

A weekend in Lincoln

A couple of weekends ago I visited my mum in Lincoln, the City I grew up in.  It's always so nice to go back there and revisit the places, spaces and memories I used to take for granted.  Lincoln is such a lovely city.  I feel lucky I can still go back there and stay whenever I like.  The first few photos are of The Lawn's 'hot house' (I forget it's proper name) - a place I used to frequent, well frequently.  It was a nostalgic experience walking around the warm, plant filled room, but it was also quite sad.  The funding for this wonderful and historic building has been cut and as a result it's looking rather shabby.  The plants are sparse and the place is generally in need of some TLC.  It's still quite magical though.

Oh and in case you were wondering, the beautiful lady in the photos is my mum.  Isn't she gorgeous?  I think so.

Sweet smells

My flat is old, and a bit smelly (you know, fusty) so I'm always experimenting with different ways of freshening up the air around us.  This oil burner was a gift from one of Floyd's lovely work friends and I'm really getting into trying out all the different essential oils and blends that are available.  I didn't realise, until I had a bit of a clear-out the other day, that the burner came with these cute heart-shaped soy melts.  They fill the room with sweet rose aromas - just lovely.  They last ages as well!  Next up will be some sort of rose blend, I'm just not sure with what yet ;)

Birthday treats (and some others)

Hiya!  Even though it was my birthday over a month ago, I still wanted to show you a couple of things I received from my lovely friends (and a couple of things I bought myself at a vintage market).  The first two pictures, the cushion and the crochet hooks, are the vintage finds.  I was given a good deal for both of them - I think because of the amount of ooh-ing and ahh-ing I was doing (I'm a terrible decision maker), they helped me make up my mind by knocking off a few pounds, or chucking in an extra hook!

The second two items were lovely birthday presents from two of my best friends.  The mug actually has a buddy, but I failed to photograph that one (I also had to get a picture of the box - how cute!).  I'm so excited to light my WoodWick candle - it's meant to crackle like logs on a fire when you burn it, and if you know me then you know I love a good candle.

Anyway, I hope your week has been fine so far.  Thanks for letting me share some of my recent treats.

Tuesday's Tune: Grimes

It's Tuesday, and here's a tune for your aural pleasure. If you like this tune you should definitely check out the album - it's one that's been playing constantly on my MP3 player for a while now. Great any time of day. Happy listening.

Reetsweet March 2012

Almost exactly one year ago I went to this awesome craft fair in Sheffield.  I can't believe I forgot to share it nearer the time - I only came across these photos again whilst browsing through some old pics and thought they're too good not to share!  I actually ended up buying one of those felted tooth brooches - cute.
