Having a break

If you are a follower of my blog then you will know that I have recently had a long break.  I didn’t initially intend on having a break, it just sort of happened.  At the beginning it would play on my mind – the longer I left it the worse I felt and the more I tried to think of a justifiable reason for neglecting my online space.  It wasn’t just the blog I was neglecting either; I gave up on my yearly goals, my Etsy shop and my photography.  I can’t explain why, but I feel maybe I needed it.

There was a shift in our way of life when Floyd started Uni in September.  Suddenly I was doing more at home, working longer hours, preparing for Christmas as well as having a head full of wedding plans and it seems I may have lost focus.  The things I get great rewards from like the blog, logii and taking pictures became too much for me on top of everything else.  I put pressure on myself to do well, and if something’s going to be done I want it done properly!  So unconsciously (at first) I gave myself a break.  I’m surprised it’s lasted this long, but I’m back now and I’m glad I did it.

If you’re still here, thanks for sticking with me.  I promise more for the future and am so excited to get the ball rolling again.  I’ve missed this, so if the break was good for one thing it was to give myself some perspective.

  1. Hello there Lois, I just found you through an ancient link on Lisa's blog and got hooked. Your blog looks very inspiring, but this particular post caught my eye, since I can relate to it so well. Sometimes life just moves so fast, and we keep having this assumption to stay on top of things and be caught up with everyone and everything. I feel it's a good thing to realize, that a break doesn't necessarily mean you buried your head in the sand and gave up. If it's a conscious decision, it can work wonders.
I'll surely be coming back to your lovely space, there's a lot to discover here.

  2. Hi Mina,

Thanks for your comment and kind words. My break wasn't a conscious decision at first, but soon evolved into one and I'm so happy that I did it as I realised how much blogging inspires in me and how much I missed it after a while. It means so much when people relate to the things I write and thanks for sharing that with me. I'm glad to have you here.
